In a bizarre incident, Delhi Police registered a case of forgery against former MCD commissioner K S Mehra following the complaint of his ex-wife Vimla Mehra, director general of Tihar Jail.

Vimla, an IPS officer who succeeded Neeraj Kumar and to become the second woman director general of Tihar Jail, alleged that her former husband K S Mehra, an IAS officer who recently retired from the post of MCD commissioner, duped her on the pretext of buying flats. The couple has been separated many years ago.

In the police complaint, Vimal Mehra, said, “I was induced by K S Mehra to contribute Rs 1.4 lakh to purchase a flat in Patparganj and I will be the co-owner of the flat. The documents related to the purchase is under my possession. Now, it was learnt that Mr Mehra has converted the property from lease to freehold from DDA exclusively in his name by disassociating my name from joint ownership.”

Mehra filed a complaint to the economic offence wing of Delhi Police on August 27. She alleged that she also paid Rs 2.3 lakh in 1997 to buy a flat in Noida to K S Mehra for co-ownership of the property. But later, it was found that the flat is solely in the name of K S Mehra.

Police have registered a case under section 420 of Indian Penal Code .
