Thousands of residents of unauthorised colonies on Thursday gathered at the residence of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to convey their thanks to her on regularisation of 917 unauthorised colonies.

The huge crowd could not be accomodated at the lawn of her residence which is why Dikshit addressed them in three batches.

The atmosphere looked festive as people greeted each other with flowers, played music and danced to celebrate the landmark decision by Delhi government .

Notification to be issued

Addressing people on the occasion, Dikshit said that notification for regularisation will be issued in a day or two while it may take few months to complete all formalities, however government will begin work towards providing all civic amenities in approved colonies.

“The notification for regularisation of the 917 colonies would be issued either today or tomorrow.  All the details about the process to regularise would be out in the next couple of days in the form of advertisement in newspapers,” she said

“From there, you will be able to know as to where to get the forms to claim ownership for the land. It will also guide you on whom to approach and where to go for registration. Urban Development (UD) Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely will help all of you people,” added Dikshit adding that she will now see that the remaining colonies are also regularised.

Local MPs, Ramesh Kumar and Sandeep Dikshit, Delhi UD Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely and several MLAs were also present on the occasion.
