17 Pakistanis fail to get visas for entrepreneurs meet

Seventeen women entrepreneurs from Pakistan could not make it to an international conference  which began here Monday as they could not get visas, the organisaers said.

"Seventeen Pakistani women who wanted to participate in the programme could not get their visas," Rajnee Aggarwal, president, Federation of Indian Women Entrepreneurs (FIWE), told IANS, without elaborating.

Businesses from both the countries have been asking for a a liberal visa regime for greater bilateral trade and investment.

The two countries have prepared a draft of a liberal policy, which is expected to  figure during External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna's visit to Pakistan for bilateral talks Sep 8.

Some 800 participants from 50 countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Maldives, US and Britain, are attending the three-day 12th global conference and exhibition on trade liberalisation and emerging opportunities for women entrepreneurs.

The event has been organised by FIWE in collaboration with the International Federation of Women Entrepreneurs (IFWE) and the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
