Team Anna to pacify guru

Last Updated 20 September 2012, 20:29 IST

Disappointed and disheartened by Anna Hazare’s rebuff, pro-political party group of disbanded Team Anna will again try to pacify the Gandhian leader.  According to sources, the group feels that mere going political may not work without the blessings of Hazare.

“We will have to make him agree to support us, otherwise we can not succeed in our endeavour to provide an alternative,” said an activist involved with the party making process. “Let us see how it materializes,” he said.

According to sources, some communication gap has caused this sudden change in Anna’s stand. They say that though Anna was not to join the proposed party, he was ready to support it with some caveat. Exhibiting the sentiment, Arvind Kejriwal, who is leading the group, said on Thursday, “We respect Anna Hazare,  he is our guru and father. Yesterday's developments came as a complete surprise. It was shocking, unbelievable, unfortunate and sad.”

Rejection by the Gandhian activist of the move to form a political party to jump into elections arena and his prohibiting use of his name and photograph for the proposed political formation has completely stunned the group,  which includes Prahshant Bhushan, Manish Sisodia and Gopal Rai.

The Gandhian on Wednesday categorically told them not to use his name or photograph for a promoting a political party. “Anna's photograph and name are printed in our hearts. We will continue to take his blessings and touch his feet. Anna's five principles will become foundation of our party," Kejriwal told reporters. However, he pleaded urgency for changing the system as, in his view, both the Congress and the BJP are the same.
