Suspecting fidelity, salesman strangles wife

A man who suspected his wife’s fidelity, allegedly strangled her in his house at Madiwala, early Monday morning.

Police said Preethi, 22, from Kerala was married to Vishwajith Bhagat Das, 25, from Odisha, a few years ago and the couple was staying at Bandepalya in Madiwala. Das was a salesman with a private firm and Preethi was employed at a mall in Koramangala.

The couple used to quarrel frequently after Das began to suspect Preethi of having an affair with her colleague. During a similar fight Monday morning, Preethi threatened to strangle herself, but Das choked Preethi to death with a towel, police added.

Neighbours rushed Preethi to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead. Das has been arrested.

Woman found murdered

A 42-year-old woman was found murdered at her house in Shivapura of Peenya Industrial Town on Monday evening.

Girijamma, hailing from Gubbi in Tumkur, was a small-time money lender and an usurer.

She had divorced her husband 15 years ago and was living alone in the house. The couple’s two children live with their father in Gubbi.

On Monday evening, one of the neighbours came visiting and Girijamma failed to open the door. She peeped through the window, only to find Girijamma lying dead in a pool of blood. She immediately alerted the police.

The police retrieved the body and sent it to Victoria Hospital for autopsy.

A case of murder has been registered at Peenya police station. Police said the murder might have been committed a day before. The police suspect an illicit affair behind the murder.

Worker falls to death

A construction worker fell to his death from the second floor of an under-construction building in HBR Layout, Monday morning. Vijay, 22, was working as a mason at the building for the past one year.

The incident occurred when he was carrying sand from the ground floor. Vijay was rushed to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead.
