Robbers loot elderly woman at gunpoint

Three armed robbers held a 68-year-old woman hostage at her house at Ashok Vihar area in north west Delhi on Wednesday and decamped with cash and jewellery worth Rs 1 lakh.

The incident was reported from B-Block of Ashok Vihar Phase-1, where Rama Devi lives with her family. embers of the family were not at home when the incident happened at  11.35 am. “The robbers did not try to kill Rama or her domestic help.

They just threatened them with their gun and knife. The accused persons had to leave the house after one of them sustained injuries while breaking the glass of an almirah,” a senior police official said.

A case of robbery was registered at Ashok Vihar police station. Investigators have also made a sketch of the robbers. According to an official, the sketches do not match with anyone holding a criminal record. “It is yet to be ascertained whether the robbers came on a motorcycle or used other means of transport,” the official added.

Devi was on the ground floor of the house when someone rang the doorbell. The person claimed that he had come to deliver a courier. As soon as the woman opened the door, the robber pushed her inside and overpowered her with the help of his two accomplice.

One of them pointed a gun at her, the other pointed a knife at the domestic help and the third ransacked the house for cash and jewellery.
