The Centre has asked private telecom operators in Jammu and Kashmir to provide at the earliest a mechanism for fool-proof monitoring of internet traffic to the state especially that provided on the smart phones.
The Department of Telecom (DoT) conveyed this to the telecom companies after security agencies raised concern that some of the mechanism provided by the companies did not comply with the standards.
The security agencies want to monitor internet traffic in the border state especially after rumours floated and anti-national elements used smart phones to post morphed pictures on social networking sites.
