A 35-year-old woman committed suicide after she was allegedly gang raped in Raisen district, police said on Wednesday.
She was picked up by four persons near Bhopal in a Jeep on Tuesday, who later allegedly raped her in Badi forest and then dumped her on the road, police said. She managed to return to her village, where she set herself on fire later.
She sustained burn injuries and was rushed to Bhopal’s Hamidia Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday night, police said.
In her dying declaration, she blamed four persons for her plight but failed to identify them, said Hoshangabad range inspector general Ajay Sharma. A case has been filed against unidentified persons under relevant sections of the IPC. Investigations are on.
