Flaying the UPA government for rising the price on petroleum products and capping subsidised LPG cylinders, the BJP Mahila Morcha members staged a massive protest, in front of Deputy Commissioner's office on Friday.

The UPA government is inviting women’s curse, said BJP Mahila Morcha President Pulyasa Rai. “Usually, an LPG gas cylinder can be used for a month. Now with subsidy for only six gas cylinders, how can we cook? Does the UPA government expects us to serve our family members half cooked food?” she asked.

The UPA government with their 'garabhi hatao' campaign is fooling the people and making them even more poorer, she said.

“The UPA government has been involved in multiple scams since 2004. It is an anti-people government. Trade is being controlled by the black marketers. The sky rocketing prices is making the middle and poor class people suffer,” he said. Now the heat of price rise has hit the kitchens with cap on subsidised LPG cylinders. People need to raise their voice against the cap on LPG cylinders.

“The Congress is taking the nation towards destruction and not on development path. When Vajpayee was the Prime Minister, he ensured that roads were laid, villages are developed, every house had an LPG cylinder. People brought  the UPA into power expecting it to do better than the NDA government. However, the UPA government failed to uphold and continue the development activities introduced by the NDA,” said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.

Sonia Gandhi’s visit to Mangalore is a publicity stunt. Instead of giving false promises, it is better she ensures that cap on subsidised gas cylinders is cancelled, he said.

Former MLA Kumble Sundar Rao said that a government should uphold people’s interest. The UPA government should stop the unscientific price rise.

Earlier, the BJP Mahila Morcha members took out a protest march from Jyothi circle to DC's office. More than 500 women took part in the march and shouted slogans against the UPA government.

The women also started cooking food using firewood as a mark of protest.
BJP District President Padmanabh Kottari, ZP former president Shailaja Bhat, BJP Mahila Morcha General Secretary Sumana Sharan and others were present.
