“PMTGA will be a permanently-based in-house academy at BGC,” said Rathan Kumar, managing director of PMTGA. “The academy will be inaugurated by Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Sunday and will primarily focus on developing youngsters who wish to play college golf in the United States on scholarship.

PMTGA will be headed by Peter Murphy, who worked for a decade with Hank Haney -- the coach of World No 1 Tiger Woods.

Technology has played a major role in the development of sports and PMTGA hopes its advanced facilities like Motion Golf will provide youngsters the right platform to develop their game. “The academy will have technologies like Motion Golf, SwingView Pro, Flight-Scope and Swing Labs -- thereby covering all aspects of the game. And all this will be available for non-BGC members also who join the academy.”

Murphy -- housed in Dallas, Texas -- will visit Banaglore once in two months to supervise the progress while the academy will be managed locally by Vijay Divecha and Bamby Randhawa with Pradeep Agarwal adding his expertise as the mind coach.

“The prime objective will be to tap youngsters. The programme will be classified into juniors and seniors, both having four levels -- beginner, intermediate, advanced and elite.”
