The police have formed two teams under S B Samba, the deputy commissioner of police, to investigate the burglary at the SBI branch at Kadaganchi in the taluk on Saturday.

One team led by Narona sub inspector Vinayak Nayak left for Maharashtra on Sunday, for investigation in Solapur and Umarga towns.

Another team led by Circle Inspector G S Udugi left for investigation in Gulbarga, Yadgir and other places in the State, Samba told Deccan Herald.

The suspects had broken the rear gate of the bank and had drilled a hole in the wall of the strong room, before making away with four kg of gold ornaments worth Rs 1.04 crore and Rs 46 lakh in cash.

‘Well planned’

The burglary was a well-planned one as the CCTV cameras had been damaged and power supply had been disconnected by the suspects.

Security has been tightened on the premises of the bank. The dog squad and fingerprint experts inspected the place Saturday.
