<p>As many as 40 silver coins, dating to 1819, and a few gold articles were found by workers digging the ground for constructing a sump at Makanaduku village of the taluk.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The coins have 1819 and Urdu words inscribed on them. The site owner Sharadamma had built a house on the property and was getting the ground dug up for the sump.<br /><br /> The workers found a potful of silver coins and the gold articles. They brought the matter to the notice of Sharadamma, who reported it to the Hosahalli police station. <br /><br />She handed over the silver coins and the gold articles to the police, tahsildar Javaregowda told reporters. He said of the 40 coins, eight were large in size. <br /><br />Of the gold articles found, two resemble a bracelet and the other is a jewel in the shape of a ‘kalasa’. The police visited the spot. <br /><br />Javaregowda said that the unearthed articles would be handed over to the treasury in the town on October 16.<br /><br /> Researchers in history may examine the articles between 10 am and 11 am that day, he said.
