Karnataka’s Rashmi K clinched the girls’ under-20 javelin throw gold on the opening day of the 28th National Junior athletics championships here on Saturday.
Rashmi hurled the javelin to a distance of 45.11 metres for the gold. Karnataka also won two silver medals in the girls’ U-20 category. Bebi Sumaya, who was beaten by Pinki of Haryana (12.06 seconds), pocketed the silver in 12.11 while the 4x400M relay team clocked three minutes 48.25 to finish second. In the boys’ under-18 1500M, Rahul of Delhi claimed gold, posting three minutes 59.77 seconds.
