An 18-month-old black and white sheep dog in UK has become the world's most expensive after fetching a record 8,400 pounds at an auction here.
The final bid for Marchup Midge at Skipton, North Yorkshire, broke the earlier record of 6,300 pounds achieved last year for a 13-month-old Dewi Fan.
Midge, who comes from a family of outstanding champions was sold to 45-year old Suffolk shepherd Eddie Thornalley.
She is already famed for her speed and agility as well as her ice-cool temperament and has been trained by a former world champion breeder, the 'Mirror' reported.
Eddie, who has bought three dogs from champion breeder Shaun Richards, said: "They are all fantastic dogs. I've not had a drink in two years but I feel like having one now."
Shaun, from Burnley, Lancashire, said he was "gobsmacked" by the final price. "She exceeded all expectations. When the money kept going go up and up I was speechless," he said.
"She'll go into the sheepdog trial world after this, where she will do extremely well," Shaun said.
