17-yr-old student hangs himself

A class 11 student of a school here allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room on Thursday, police said.

The 17-year-old student of Kanshiram Nagar district returned to the college on Thursday morning after a holiday, circle officer Alok Priyadarshi said.

After dropping the student in the school, his elder brother returned back home, he said.
“Around 2pm, when other students returned to the hostel, they found the door of his hostel room locked from inside,” the police officer said.

“Through the window, the students spotted his body hanging from the ceiling fan,” Priyadarshi said

No suicide note has been recovered from the room, he said adding, the parents are yet to register a case.

According to school principal Rajinder Kumar, the boy failed in class 11, but his parents preferred him to continue in the school and repeat the class. He had to report on October 30 but he came two days late, Kumar said.

The principal further said, in August last year, he had fled from the college, following which he was suspended for ten days. “During routine checking cigarette and tobacco products were recovered from his possession,” Kumar said.

One killed in mishap

A Delhi resident was killed when his car rammed into a divider near Tappal on the Yamuna Expressway, police said on Thursday.

Ajit (31), a resident of Moti Nagar Delhi, was on way back to his residence from Agra last night when one the tyres of his car got punctured, they said.

Ajit lost control of the car and the vehicle overturned after hitting the divider near Tappal. According to police, Ajit was rushed to a private hospital where he died during treatment.
