On records,  Kamalesh and Shari Krishna have been husband and wife since May 3, 2012. But the couple saw each other for the first time only on Wednesday.

Kamalesh, working in Dubai, could not turn up for the marriage as his Pakistani employer denied him the promised leave at the last moment following a spat between them.
Kamalesh conveyed this to his parents on the night before the wedding day. After consulting with the bride’s relatives, it was decided that Kamalesh’s sister would play the groom and tie the knot. So the marriage was held sans groom at a hall in Kamalesh’s native village of Muthukualm, a coastal village in Alappuzha district at the appointed time.

Shari’s long wait for her husband came to an end on Wednesday, when he landed at Thiruvananthapuram airport by a morning Air India Express flight from Dubai. She had been at the airport to receive Kamalesh. “Since he did not give me leave, I decided to give up the job. But he demanded the money which he had paid for my visa. I paid Rs 4000.
Kamalesh had to suffer some more before he could get his passport.
