'Government trying to steal credit from mosquitoes'

Last Updated 21 November 2012, 19:11 IST

The trickling of news about the hush-hush hanging of Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab on Wednesday morning set tongues wagging.

Many doubted his death due to hanging in light of the recent reports of the death-row convict being down with the deadly and sometimes fatal “dengue” fever. The 25-year-old’s illness was first reported early this month stating that he was suffering from high fever.
Thereafter, the additional director general of police (Prisons) Meeran Borwankar confirmed to the media that Kasab was being treated for dengue after the doctors ruled out malaria.

However, though doctors at J J Group of Hospitals (Prison Ward) did say that Kasab was recovering there was no news after a couple of weeks as regard to his health or treatment progress. Wednesday’s bolt-from-the-blue announcement by the Union and state governments declaring that the execution of Kasab, code-named “Operation-X” was carried out in secrecy, micro-blogging sites and social networking sites were spiralling with hilarious and wry remarks.

With most of them doubting the veracity of the government’s version, several of them ridiculed the government stating, “What if Kasab died of dengue and government is just taking the credits of the mosquitoes?” with some others remarking, “Kasab was suffering from Dengue. All Politicians sayin He was Hanged. If he was Hanged Y their is not even a single picture Out.”
