Walk through TN tourist spots without visiting the state

"The aim of launching the virtual tour is an attempt to enable people have a real kind of experience about various tourist spots in Tamil Nadu", TTDC IT in-charge Justin Jose said.

A click on the mouse gets one all tourist spots live on screen, he said, adding that these tours can be viewed on the website www.tamilnadutourism.org.

Jose said that if someone has not visited Thanjavur to see the famous Brahadeeswarar temple, a virtual visit to the site would enable them see it in all its glory, including all the beautiful sculptures.

"This website will also provide life to popular as well as lesser known spots in the state. Most of the times, visitors do not get proper information or guidance and are not able to visit the spots in its entirety", he added.

"This virtual tour will enable travellers have an enchanting experience and also tell them what they can expect during their visit", Jose said, adding the TTDC expected their initiative to be a hit and also bring in more tourists to the state.

Currently, visitors can virtually walk through 11 destinations and another 11 famous spots would be added soon, he said.

TTDC officials said the website has captured and displayed the eye catching natural beauty and architectural splendour of the spectacular tourist hot spots of this South Indian state.

The user-friendly website also offers a walk through the Vandalur Zoo, world famous Mamallapuram, Yelagiri and Kolli hills, Yercaud, Iravadeeshwarar temple at Darasuram, Rameswaram temple, Courtallam falls, Tiruvalluvar statue, Bhagavathi Amman temple and Vivekananda rock memorial in Kanyakumari.

Several new features like medical tourism fairs, package tours, tourism policy announcements, online reservation system among others are available through this virtual tours for the benefits of domestic and foreign tourists.
