Top seed Suraj storms into quarters

Top seed Suraj R Prabodh defeated Sarthak Siddarth 6-3, 6-4 to enter the quarterfinals of the AITA men’s 30k tournament at the Raghuveer Tennis Academy courts here on Tuesday.

Second seed Vikram Naidu and fourth seed Sameep Mehta also progressed to the last-eight stage with contrasting victories. While Naidu registered a fairly easy 6-4, 6-4 victory over Samud Sharma, Mehta was made to fight hard by Prajwal Dev before prevailing 7-5, 6-3.
Rashein Samuel, meanwhile, registered a come-from-behind 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over S Prithvi to reach the quarters.

Other players who made it to the quarterfinals were Nishanth Anthony Rebello, who beat Varun Gopal 6-2, 6-4, Jay Soni who put it past Yuvaraj Chaudhury 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), Mukund S Kumar who breezed to a 6-3, 6-0 win over sixth seed L Harsha and Vignesh Prabhu who beat Rahul Robinson 6-4, 6-4.
