A man, trying to escape a blaze that broke out in a 15-storey building in Pakistan's port city Karachi, died when he jumped from the eighth floor, officials said.
The fire engulfed the eighth floor in the State Life building on Zaibunnisa Street in Sadar area, Dawn reported. The blaze was later tamed by firefighters.
Many people were reportedly stuck in the building. Chief Fire Officer Ehtashamuddin told Geo News several people were pulled out of the building and a major loss was prevented.
One person, however, jumped from the building in order to escape the fire. He succumbed to his wounds at a hospital.
