'Christa Jayanthi Gaanalahari' from Nov 30

Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh, St Vincent Ferrer Church unit in association with Karnataka Christian Education Society (KACES) will be organising 'Christa Jayanthi Gaanalahari 2012' from November 30 to December 2, at St Vincent Ferrer Church grounds in Valencia.

Addressing a press meet, Christa Jayanthi Gaanalahari 2012 Committee President Anil Lobo said that the carol singing competition will be held in three languages such as English, Kannada and Konkani.

The English carol singing competition will be inaugurated in the presence of Managlore Diocese Bishop Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza on November 30. SCDCC Bank Chairman M N Rajendra Kumar will be the chief guest. There will be a dance performance by members of Ocean Kids after the competition.

Kannada carol singing competition will be inaugurated by Belthangady Diocese Bishop Rev Lawrence Mukkuzy on December 1. Deputy Commissioner Dr N S Channappa Gowda will be present. Vismaya Vinayaka and Team will perform 'Tamashe factory'.

Konkani Carol singing competition will be held on December 2 and will be inaugurated by Karnataka Southern Diocese CSI Former Bishop Rev Dr C L Furtado. MCC former Commissioner J R Lobo will be guest.

The valedictory will be held after the competition. It will be presided by Karnataka High Court Judge B V Pinto. NRI entrepreneur Elias Sanctis and Western Institute of Technology Director Stephen Mendes will be guests. Jokes and Comedy will be presented by a group called Memory.

More than 60 teams have already registered from DK, Udupi and Kasragod districts. Each category will be given cash prizes. The team that bags the first prize will get Rs 15,000, the second prize is Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 will be the third prize. Three constellation prizes which consists of Rs 4,000 as prize money will also be awarded.
