The Bangalore Development Authority has been directed to allot sites to the applicants only after creating infrastructure facilities in the layouts, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar told the Assembly on Tuesday.

Shettar, who holds the Bangalore Development Authority portfolio said half of the work on providing basic facilities in the 12 layouts newly formed by the BDA has been completed and the rest would be completed by December 2014. The layouts are - Banashankari 6th stage, Anjanapura, JP Nagar 8th and 9th stages, Sir MV Layout, Arkavathi Layout, Nagarbhavi, Chandra Layout. He was replying to a question by N A Haris (Cong).

The final notification to acquire land for the Kempegowda Layout has been issued and the layout plan too has been approved. Applications will be invited from site aspirants in 2013.

Similarly, a notification for acquiring land for the Dr Shivaram Karanth layout has been issued. Earlier, Haris said the government has failed to provide facilities in layouts it has formed. Private developers provide all facilities before selling sites. The cost is much cheaper compared to the BDA sites, he said.
