Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Mohammad Habibulla Khan on Thursday, asked the private bus owners to give suggestions on the change of route timing of private buses, in the backdrop of the Chikballapur and Kolar RTOs giving permission to ply KSRTC buses to connect those districts with Kodagu.

He was chairing a meeting of the private bus owners that was called to discuss the change in route timing of private buses, with the introduction of new KSRTC buses in the district.

“Permits have been issued to ply KSRTC buses in the district for the benefit of general public. The private bus owners who are likely to be affected with the timings, can submit objections,” he said.

Speaking in the meeting, Kodagu District Private Bus Owners Association President Hosur Ramesh Joyappa said that the private buses which have been providing quality service to people of the district will continue to do the same in the days to come.

Bus permits should be given purely based on the population level, he suggested. He also insisted the RTO to conduct route survey and prepare the route timing ensuring that the private bus owners are not affected.

Association Vice-president Nanda Poonacha requested the RTO to look into that the KSRTC buses timing will not collide with the private buses. There should be a gap of at least 45 minutes, he insisted.

Suggestions came from various quarters in preparing the changed route timing.
