Making this observation was M I Savadatti, Vice-Chairman of the Karnataka State Council for Higher Education and former vice-chancellor of Mangalore University.

At a one-day national conference on Understanding Basics of Physics organised for physics teachers here on Saturday, he said, “Physics provides tremendous scope for thinking. Teachers need to be good observers to understand basic concepts of Physics to popularise the subject among students. Many concepts which we think we have understood may not be true. Effects of some activities of physics cannot be seen, but can be felt.”

He said, “Our understanding of time, space and mass may be very limited as the subject is vast and plenty remains to be understood. As experts, when we go deeper, then we realise that we hardly know anything about physics. We have to accept certain things there and make a fresh beginning.”

Teachers need to be more fascinated about Physics as fascination will force them to know more things. A thorough understanding of basic of physics will enable anyone to lead a good life, he added.
