'Govt not boSiddaramaiahthered about N-K region'

Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Assembly, Siddaramaiah, alleged that State government was not interested in resolving the problems of the North Karnataka region, hence, it did not provide scope for discussing the problems during the recently concluded Legislature session at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha here.

Siddaramaiah told mediapersons here on Sunday that the government did not give an opportunity to debate the bills before being passed.

He said Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar’s statements that the Opposition did not want development, was not in the right spirit and it only showed his intellect and immaturity. The government also did not even consider the demand to extend the Legislature session by another week.

Resignation sought

Demanding the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa, he said that the deputy chief minister, was also the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and since allegations of corruption are being leveled against him, he should quit his post immediately, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President G Parameshwar said that Governor H R Bhardwaj had been urged not to approve the bills passed by the BJP government that was in minority, he added.
