Postal survived a late scare to post a 2-1 win over Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) in the BDFA Super Division League at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Monday.

Postal have five points from three matches, while DYSS are yet to open their account having suffered their third successive loss.

Postal dominated the first half and took control of a rather insipid contest with two goals. They went ahead in the 22nd minute when Nikhil made a fine run on the left wing and sent a cross to Kenneth inside the rival area. He curled one to the right corner of the net over DYSS goalkeeper Sunil Kumar.

Postal consolidated their position in the 30th minute as Aravind’s cross from the right found an unmarked Venkatesh inside the box who headed home. Such was Postal’s superiority in the first half that their custodian Ravindran was barely tested.

DYSS had a scare when Ravi Kiran made a hasty clearance inside his own box and was lucky to see his powerful shot sail over the bar in the 52nd minute.

However, DYSS got a lucky break as Nikhil handled the ball inside the area in the 55th minute and referee Elangovan awarded a penalty. Sunil S easily beat Ravindran to pull one back.

Postal suffered a blow when substitute Franklin was sent off after picking up his second yellow card in the 73rd minute. DYSS could not capitalise on the numerical advantage, even though Sunil had a fine chance to equalise in the final minute as he headed wide off Somasekhar’s cross.

Earlier, SAI scored a 2-0 win over Bangalore Mars in the ‘A’ Division. Paoneo Haokip put SAI ahead in the 29th minute, while Saroj Roy added the second in the 73rd minute.

Tuesday’s matches: A Division: AGORC vs Bangalore Kickers (1.00 pm). Super Division: ADE vs RWF (3.00 pm)
