Zardari's daughter made Pak ambassador for anti-polio drive

The announcement was made at a ceremony of the national anti-polio campaign launched by President Zardari on Saturday. Aseefa was the first Pakistani child to receive polio drops following the launch of the first immunisation campaign in the country by her mother and slain former premier Benazir Bhuto in 1994. Zardari described the nomination of Aseefa as a step to boost the initiative launched by the former Prime Minister.

"It was a demonstration of her commitment to improving the social sector, particularly the health of children. She was the first prime minister to have personally administered polio drops to a Pakistani child. That child was no less than our own daughter, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari," the President was quoted as saying by The News daily. "Together she will work with you to end polio, to honour her mother and her memory," said Zardari, who regretted that Aseefa could not be present due to her studies.
