Sixteen contemporary Indian feature and short-length films, including eight New York theatrical premieres, will feature at The New India, a two-week exhibition here which will open on June 5 with a movie on 'supercop' Kiran Bedi.
The New India at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) aims at exploring the richness and diversity of contemporary Indian cinema.
Among those who will present their films at MoMA are actors Naseeruddin Shah, Abhay Deol and Nandita Das.
Australian filmmaker Megan Doneman's 'Yes Madam, Sir' is a riveting portrait of one of India's most inspiring public figures and first woman IPS officer of India Kiran Bedi.
Narrated by Helen Mirren and filmed over six years, 'Yes Madam, Sir' has been scooping many awards and garnering rave reviews during its run on the worldwide film festival circuits.
Other highlights of the exhibition, organised by Joshua Siegel, associate curator at MoMA, and guest curator Uma da Cunha, include three recent commercial and critical Bollywood hits,

Ashutosh Gowariker's 'Jodhaa Akbar', Zoya Akhtar's 'Luck by Chance' and Dibakar Banerjee's 'Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!'
Further celebrating genre movie making with their New York premieres are Shashank Ghosh's 'Quick Gun Murugan' and Faiza Ahmad Kahn's documentary 'Supermen of Malegaon'.
