Prime accused in Adiga murder held

The police have arrested Ramesh Bairy, the prime suspect in the murder of RTI activist and social worker Vasudeva Adiga, near Kolhapur in Maharastra.

Superintendent of Police Dr Boralingaiah M B told Deccan Herald that Ramesh Bairy was arrested late night on January 23 in Mumbai and was brought to Kundapur Thursday morning.

“Arrest formalities have been completed. He is yet to be produced before the court as some procedures are pending. He has confessed to the crime and the revelation by him during the interrogation supported the admissions by the other six accused. He will be produced before court shortly,” he added.

The other six accused who were arrested earlier were produced before Kundapur court on Thursday as the period of their police custody ends on January 24. They are remanded to judicial custody till February 7.
