A meeting organised by Cauvery Trust at S B Samudaya Bhavan here discussed the course of action to be taken after the notification of the order of Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal (CWDT) before February 24, as ordered by Supreme Court over Cauvery river water sharing dispute.

Rationalist H L Keshavamurthy opined that constructing a temple for Cauvery matha is of no use. Creating awareness among the people on the issue is the need of the hour, he said.

Pointing out that the river was getting narrower every day due to unabated illegal sand mining, he said plans should be chalked out to begin a struggle to protect the river.  With the failure of cloud seeding, it is not possible to hope of any drastic changes, he lamented.

Cauvery Trust president B Shivalingaiah said a ‘rath yatra’ is being organised to create awareness on river water sharing, problems that has to be faced and future course of action once the notification is issued. Mallaradhya Prasanna said, such meetings should be held across the district and suggested to include a replica of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar in the rath yatra.

Dharanendraiah, H V Jayaram, G T Veerappa, I N Rao and others spoke. Former MLA G B Shivakumar, ZP standing committee president K S Vijayananda, Kannada Sahitya Parishat district unit president Meera Shivalingaiah, ZP ex-president Linganna and others participated.
