Youth beaten up, head shaved in bits

Alleged eve-teasing cost him dearly but he says he only offered a drop

Devaraj He was put to shame - his head was shaved and he was severely beaten up, locked up the entire night by locals who claimed that he was caught eve teasing in Tigalarapalya near Magadi Road in Byadarahalli police post.

The victim, Devaraj (25), a bar-bender was seen with his head and moustache partially shaved and multiple injuries on his body. "After my work at Peenya, I was heading home and happened to meet a girl from the same area. When I saw her waiting near the bus stop, I stopped and offered to drop her. After she agreed, we came together on the bike. One of their relative saw us and spread unwanted rumours which later took an ugly turn. A group of people called me out of the house and vented out their anger, locked me up in a room and shaved my head," he said.

Source said, earlier on many occasions Devaraj was warned for eve teasing.
He allegedly used to harass girls in the area and on Sunday, the locals decided to teach him a lesson.  Meanwhile, the police are yet to file an FIR in the case.
