Government okays drainage project

CMC President H D Thammaiah said the estimated project plan of Rs 45.74 crore was sent to the government for approval. A sewage treatment plant will be set up at Hiremagalur-Lakshmipura. About 36 acre land is required for the plant.

The land acquisition process will commence soon. Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Underground Drainage Board is preparing blue print for the project.

He said government has okayed the proposal of desilting of Heerekolale stream to supply water to the city. In fact, government has released Rs 70 lakh for the project. The work will be completed at the earliest. Rs 5.50 crore is required for laying pipelines.
Government has assured to pay 50 per cent of the project cost. The remaining fund should be borne by the CMC, he added.
