'Reinstate Mirza in DRDO'

 Press Council of India (PCI) chairperson Markandey Katju has written to Defence Minister A K Antony and Karnataka Chief Minister Jagdish Shettar urging them to reinstate Aijaz Ahmed Mirza, a junior scientist at the Defence Research and Development Organisation, if there was no evidence of his involvement in terror activities.

Referring to media reports, he said the NIA had not filed any charge sheet against Mirza who had been sacked from the DRDO after he was arrested on terror charges. He was later released on bail.

“I would request you to look into this matter immediately, and if it is true that there is no evidence against Aijaz Ahmed Mirza, he should be reinstated forthwith in the post he was holding before he was sacked,” he said.
