Fate of 686 candidates will be decided on March 11

8 ULBs in Chikmagalur registered 72.92 pc polling

 As the fate of 686 candidates contesting for 148 wards in 8ULBs have already been sealed in the electronic voting machines, the calculations for the victory, by the candidates have already begun.

The candidates were busy in campaigning for the polls since February 16. A few candidates on Friday were seen sitting with friends and relatives with pen and paper and making calculations on winning losing in the elections.

Chikmagalur CMC has 35 wards and 198 candidates are in fray. Kadur TMC has 23 wards with 113 candidates contesting.

Birur TMC has 23 wards with 92 candidates’; Tarikere has 23 wards with 119 candidates; Narasimharajapura TMC has 11 wards with 38 candidates; Koppa has 11 wards with 29 candidates; Sringeri has 31 candidates for 11 wards and Mudigere has 56 candidates for 11 wards.

The district has registered 72.92 per cent polling on Thursday. A total of 1,16,031 voters have exercised their franchise. This includes 58,475 men and 57,556 female voters.

The poll percentage in Chikmagalur CMC is 67.67. As many as 53,915 voters have exercised their franchise.

As many as 16,998 voters have cast their vote in Kadur TMC and the poll percentage is 75.04. The poll percentage in Birur in 81.37. In Tarikere, as many as 19,091 voters have cast their votes, by registering 80.28 per cent polling. The poll percentage in Mudigere is 72.54.

In Koppa TP as many as 2,521 voters have exercised their franchise. In NR Pura TP, the poll percentage is 80.26.
