On Friday, Gangarams — the landmark bookstore on MG Road — moved into the Triumph Tower on Church Street.

The book store, which will have close to two lakh titles on various topics, has decided to do away with the stationary and CD ROMs.

Prakash Gangaram, one of the sons of the Gangaram’s owner told Deccan Herald in 2011 that they were planning to move out as the property prices had increased due to the Namma Metro, among other things. But as Gangarams moved out of its 20-year-old address on MG Road, the owner of the property is looking out for a ‘known brand.’

Kannappa Natayan, the owner of the property, said: “I do not want to justify the reasons for increasing the price or to contradict the argument of Gangarams. But I would prefer that we get a single customer who takes all the floors like Gangarams did, as it helps functionality,” he said.
