A complaint has been registered against a man and his son for allegedly kidnapping his daughter for marrying against their wishes, police said on Monday.

On the victim’s husband’s complaint that she was kidnapped by the duo from outside a college here on March 14, senior superintendent of police on Monday directed the concerned police officer to investigate the matter.

Satinder Kumar, resident of Milk Lachhi area, stated in his police complaint that his wife was kidnapped by his in-laws when she had gone to submit her admission form in college, police said.

Kumar said he had married the Surajpur village resident on November 21 at an Arya Samaj Temple in Shakarpur, Delhi.

Case history

On December 6, the victim had registered a complaint with Surajpur police station and Khajuri Delhi kotwali stating that she feared that her father and brother may kill her as she had married against their wishes. She had also demanded police protection.

Kumar stated that her family members were against their marriage and were searching for them.

“The girl had gone to a college in Greater Noida to submit the admission form with her husband on March 14. She went in to submit the form and he was waiting for her outside the college,” police said, quoting the complaint.

Kumar has alleged that as she came out of college gate, her father and brother pushed her into a car and took her with them forcibly.

He feared that his wife may be killed by her parents, they said.

According to police, they are yet to find out the exact nature of the case. “We are investigating the matter. Only after a proper report comes we will know,” said an officer.
