Pilikula to get 3D planetarium

The ground breaking ceremony for Swami Vivekananda 3D planetarium and inauguration of the Guthu House of the heritage village was held in the presence of Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar at Pilikula Nisargadhama on Monday.

The first 3D planetarium of the country has a dome of 18 metre radius and will come up at a cost of Rs 24.50 crore. Tenders have been invited and the bid will be opened on April 11. The planetarium is expected to be completed within two years. The State government has already released Rs 11 crore for the planetarium.

The planetarium will host theatre shows in its ‘Sky theatre’ on different topics of astronomy and will also have facilities for star gazing for people who are interested in astronomy. Display gallery and astronomical park are other main highlights.

The 3D planetarium is named after Swami Vivekananda in commemoration of his 150th birth anniversary.

The Guthu house is an integral part of Pilikula's upcoming heritage village, ‘Janapada Loka’ was also inaugurated. Around Rs 3.73 crore has been spent for the construction of the Guthu house.
