Last Updated 23 March 2013, 18:26 IST

Condemning the ban on tipper lorries transporting sand, district tipper lorry owners association has decided to launch indefinite stir from Saturday midnight.

Announcing this to media here on Saturday, president of the association K Arun Kumar alleged that the decision of the district administration will put the lives of tipper lorry owners and their families in a fix.

Most of the lorry owners have raised loans from banks and private parties  and the unscientific decision of the government has created  a situation of ‘from fire to frying pan’.

The association demanded for revoking the order and issue daily two permits for tipper lorries to transport sand. In addition to this, permission has to be given on the lines of Mandya, Hassan and Mangalore to transport eight cubic metres sand. Another demand is to withdraw the case filed against the association in the court.

Arun Kumar also warned of intensifying the protest if the district administration continues to remain adamant.
