Units 5,6 of RTPS shut down

Units 5 and 6 of Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) have been shut down following leakage of steam from pipelines of boilers.

Noticing that steam was leaking from the boiler of Unit 5, it was closed on Saturday. Unit 6 of the thermal power station was shut down, on Sunday, following a similar problem.

Power production

According to sources in the Raichur Thermal Power Station, Unit 5 might begin production of power by Sunday night. Whereas, Unit 6 might resume producing power on Monday.
At present, Unit 8 is producing 130 MW of power per day. Excluding Unit 5 and 6, power production at the RTPS now stands at 1,050 MW.
