23,316 students will appear for SSLC exams

Police asked to deploy extra personnel at centres

As many as 23,316 students will be appearing for the SSLC examinations that will be commence from April 1 in the six educational blocks of Kolar district.

 Among the 23,316 students, 12,334 are boys and 10,982 are girls. 20, 867 are fresh students and 1,277 are old students and 1,052 are private students appearing for the examinations.

There are total 87 examination centres throughout the district. Kolar City has 50 centres and the remaining 37 centres are distributed in the rural areas.

The examinations will be held in 14 centres in Bangarpet taluk, 16 in Kolar Gold Fields, 24 in Kolar taluk, 10 in Malur taluk, 11 in Mulbagal taluk and 12 in Srinivaspur taluk.
All the 87 examination centres will be monitored by a local vigilance squad, comprising two persons. While an inter-district vigilance squad, comprising six members has also been formed.

Each member of the vigilance squad will be inspecting at least one educational block. Two vigilance squads of the Department of Public Instruction, the taluk-level vigilance squad, the tahsildar-led vigilance squad and the executive officer-led vigilance squad will be monitoring the examination centres.

Taking care

As many as seven examination centres have been declared as sensitive centres. And among them, private candidates will be appearing for their examinations in five such centres. The two examination centres at the Girls Government Pre-University College, the Bapuji School, Samaikhya School and Al-Ameen BEd College have been declared as sensitive centres.

The Government Pre-Univerity College at Thayalooru village and the Varasiddhi Vinayaka High School at Nangali village of Mulbagal taluk have also been identified as very sensitive centres. Since these two examination centres are located in the residential areas, there are more chances of malpractices during examinations.

Hence, the Police Department has been requested to deploy more personnel around these centres, informed Examination Nodal Officer A N Nagendra Prasad.

The examinations will be conducted amid strict vigilence and obesrvations. There will be no scope for malpractices and measures will be taken for the smooth conduct of the examinations, he added.

The officer said in order to improve the percentage of the students and also, to improve the students who are lagging in their studies, several programmes have been introduced by the Government, apart from opening of night schools. Also, meetings of the head masters are being held and preliminary meetings for the conduct of examinations are being held.

Prominence is being given to such schools which have scored very less marks in the SSLC examinations, Nagendra Prasad added.
