The unseeded Indo-American duo were outplayed in the first set but lost 1-6, 6-7 (9-7) to the second-seeded Israeli pair of Amir Hadad and Harel Levy. Somdev is seeded fourth in the singles competition and will open his campaign against South African Davis Cupper Rik de Voest. Prakash Amritraj will take on Kyu Tae Im in his opening round on Tuesday.

Harsh Mankad came close to pocketing his fourth ATP doubles titles of the year but had to be content with a runner-up finish at the Calabasas Challenger in US after losing the final with Treat Conard Huey. The third-seeded Indo-Philippines pair fought hard but lost the summit clash in the Super tie-breaker 2-6, 7-5, 4-10.
