Wah, Taj moment can wait!

AB de Villiers proposed his long-time girlfriend Danielle Swart at the Taj Mahal last April before marrying her last month. The South African one-day captain, however, has no intention of visiting the romantic monument any time soon.

“Oh, that was a very long day,” de Villiers recalled the day. “We had a flight early that morning and we drove another five hours from Delhi to Agra. Don’t think we will do that now, maybe we will do that after a few years. Say 10 years or 15 years or 20 years, may be come back to the spot I proposed to her but not every year because it is too far!”

“I like to believe that I didn’t do too much,” he said when asked about pressures of preparations for the marriage. “My wife did a lot. Most of the responsibility was on her, her parents, my mom and dad, everyone helped. I had a week off before the wedding and in that week I got sort of involved and did my part as well.

It was a very enjoyable experience and it is not a pressure situation at all. It is really getting away from the game and focus on something else. That week was really great and enjoyable and yeah probably one of the best days in my life; in fact, the best day in my life.”
