Ibrahim, Kasim, Mohd Kulai get awards

Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, Academy President M B Abdul Rehman said the Honourary award in the field of art will be conferred on Ibrahim Tannirbhavi; in language on U M Kasim Ullal and in literature on Mohammed Kulai.

He said Academy had organised Beary literary competitions in story, poetry and article category. The winners in story writing are ‘Abdul Hameed Pakkaladka’ for ‘Pirsa’ (I), Mariyam Ismail Ullalbail for ‘Deen Illathe duniyavu’ (II), and Abdul Ajeej Haq for ‘Sadaneg Asadhyamayad edum ille’ (III).

In poetry category, the winners are Ahammed Anwar’s ‘Hindu —Muslim (I), Summayya Banu Kuthethoor’s ‘Aakhirtho nenapu???’ (II) and Mumthaz Zakir’s ‘E Duniyavulu ellam chanda’ (III).

In article category, the winners are Mohammed Nasir for his article titled ‘Kacchoda’ (I), Naaz and Nisa Laiz for article Kaasi —Bangar—Mangala’ (II) and K P Abdul Khader Kuthetoor (III).

The award will be presented on November 13 at the Town Hall.

Awardees

Ibrahim Tannirbhavi has been in the dramatics for the last several years. He has directed more than 50 plays and written lyrics for more than 500 plays. He has brought out collection of poems ‘Thanal.’ He has also won DK district Karnataka Rajyotsava awards and Beary Sahithya award.

U M Kasim Ullal has been writing column in Ullal Beary Varthe, Beary Times and Nilavu. Some of his works are ‘Video cassette,’ ‘Niskaratho Kirma, adel chelrad pinne ader artha.’  Ullal ius the General Secretary of Kendra Beary Sahithya Parishat, General Secretary of Muslim Lekhakara Sangha and others.

Mohammed Kulai has been involved in Beary andolana. Pernal is his katha sankalana. Some of his plays are ‘Doctor’ ‘Mahasabhe’ ‘Kasi Bangar.’ He has won Karnataka Sahithya Academy award, Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy award, P Lankesh prashasthi, Kannada Sahithya Parishat Datti Prashasthi.
