Last Updated 17 June 2013, 18:46 IST

Miscreants broke into the ASB Government High School in Anekal Town on Sunday night, on the eve of SSLC supplementary exams.

While nothing was stolen, several documents were left scattered in the office room, raising suspicions that the thieves were after valuables of a different sort — the question paper of the Mathematics supplementary exam, which was conducted on Monday.

The attempted theft was discovered by the principal, Lalithamma, after she came to the school on Monday morning. According to staff, the school is a centre for SSLC supplementary exams. “Around 177 students are  writing exams in this centre,” they said.

Police suspected that thieves broke in for the question paper of Monday’s exam. However, police clarified that the question paper had actually been kept at the Anekal treasury.

“It was brought to the school on Monday morning and thus there was no leak of the question paper,” they said. A case of burglary has been registered.
