Rajasthan’s minister of state for jails,  Ram Kishore Saini had a close shave on Thursday, as irate mob, indulging in arson and violence over the death of a youth, attacked him in  Dausa district.

The youth, Ramesh Saini of Bas ki Biwai village, had been  staying in the district’s Bandikui area to prepare for    competitive exams.

The villagers said police took the youth on Wednesday for questioning him in connection with a case of a stolen ATM card. On Thursday morning, his body was found on the railway track. Villagers alleged that he was killed by the police and his body was dumped on the track.

Victim’s relatives staged a dharna in the morning on the Agra road railways crossing with his body.

Saini, who is also the MLA of Bandikui, reached the spot with the ADM to reason with the relatives, but he was attacked by the angry mob. The minister saved his life by taking shelter in a nearby PHED guest house.

The protesters fought a pitched battle with the police, ransacked the house of the minister and tried to set it ablaze. Police finally brought the situation under control and denied any role in the death of the youth.

His body was handed over to the relatives after a post-mortem was conducted by a medical board in the evening.
