Left parties' announcement foundation for alliances

Last Updated 01 July 2013, 19:37 IST

Left parties on Monday declared their programme for a secular third front in 2014 elections, making it clear that they are not in a hurry to forge pre-poll alliances and would base any coalition arrangement on the programme.

”We have declared a 10 point programme and will go to political parties and organizations to seek their support for it. The Congress led UPA, or BJP led NDA is not going to win majority in 2014 elections. An alternative to them is required and it should be based on policies,” said CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat addressing the political convention of Left parties organized in the national capital to discuss current political situation in the country.

The 10-point program seeks complete reversal of current economic policies which favours free flow of FDI and preference to private capital.  It suggests public spending on infrastructure and massive land reforms.
