A three-year-old daughter of a businessman was allegedly raped by a school cab driver in west Delhi’s Khayala on Monday. The 23-year-old accused has been arrested, police said.
The victim, who lives with parents in Ramesh Nagar, is a pre-nursery student of a playschool in Rajouri Garden.
Police said she was returning home on Monday afternoon when Simranjit Singh allegedly sexually assaulted her inside his cab.
Preliminary police investigation revealed that the victim used to go her creche along with a domestic help.
“We are trying to ascertain the role of the domestic help in the matter,” a police officer said.
The incident came to light on Monday afternoon when the victim’s mother found some injury marks on her body.
She approached police and informed that her daughter was molested by her cab driver.
After receiving the PCR call, local police immediately rushed to the spot and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for medical examination.
Sources said the medical report confirmed sexual assault.
After registering a case, a raid was conducted and Simranjit was arrested from his house.
“Simranjit was running the school cab for the last six months and he sexually assaulted the victim when they were returning from the school,” the officer added.
Based on the victim’s medical report, a case was registered under sections 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and several sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act with Khayala police station.
Woman alleges gang rape
A 31-year-old woman alleged that she was gang raped by her neighbour and his friends in south west Delhi’s Dwarka.
Based on the victim’s statement, a case was registered with Dwarka North police station and one of the accused was arrested, while others are absconding.
