Copious rainfall in the catchment areas of River Cauvery has provided relief for farmers in the region, who were affected by a two-year drought.

Good rains have filled the reservoirs in the region and have raised hopes of the Krishnarajasagar (KRS) reservoir reaching its brim, for the first time in three years.
The water level in the reservoir stood at 113.63 feet on Monday. It was 76.80 feet on July 14, 2012. The maximum level in the reservoir is 124.80 feet.

However, inflow into the reservoir has dipped as rains in the catchment areas have reduced in the past few days.

Inflow into the reservoir was 12,686 cusecs on Monday. The outflow from the reservoir was 5,354 cusecs.

The reservoir had an inflow of 20,179 cusecs on Sunday and 15,849 cusecs on Saturday. KRS has received a maximum inflow of 44,000 cusecs this year.
