JOIN US Top seed Sankeerth BR and second-seeded Mahima Aggarwal clinched the under-19 boys’and girls’ singles titles respectively, in the Legacy Hollyhock 5-Star State-ranking badminton tournament at the KBA courts on Saturday.
Sankeerth registered an easy 21-16, 21-15 victory over eighth seed Mithun Manjunath, while Mahima upset top ranked Mira Mahadevan 21-17, 21-17.
However, Mithun made up for the defeat in the under-19 section to claim the under-17 boys’ singles crown ekeing out a come-from-behind 15-21, 21-18, 21-17 win over familiar foe Sankeerth.
Mithun’s success continued in the under-17 section as he lifted the doubles title partnering Raghu M. The duo beat top seeds Akashraj Murthy and Siddarth ES 21-19, 16-21, 21-15.
It was twin joy for Mahima too as she pocketed the under-17 girls’ singles title cruising to a 21-18, 21-7 victory against No 1 seed Archana Pai in the final.
Meanwhile, unseeded Prakash Raj and Vaibhav took the under-19 boys’ doubles title putting it past fifth seeds Ashith Surya and Mahesh Kumar D 15-21, 24-22, 21-17.
Top seeds Arsheen Syeda Saadath and Parvathi S Krishna defeated second seeded Neha G and Pratiksha Prakash 21-11, 21-13 to annex the under-19 girls’ doubles title.
