If children suffer from health problems after consuming midday meals in schools, the headmaster concerned, Cluster Resource Person and Block Resource Person will be held responsible. The decision was taken by the Zilla Panchayat at a meeting here on Saturday.

Any shortcomings in the midday meal scheme should be addressed immediately. Steps should be taken to ensure quality food for students, demanded ZP members.

Member B P Puttabuddi cited recent deaths of children after consuming midday meals in Bihar. So, officials should be careful and take measures to provide quality food, he urged.

Deputy Director of Public Instruction N Chandregowda said, as many as 1.4 lakh children receive midday meals in the district. Midday meals are being prepared in 802 kitchens. We have taken necessary precautions to ensure quality food. Clean drinking water is also being provided, he said.

ZP president G Nagashree, speaking on the Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation Programme, said, the tablets should be taken only after having food. After consuming the tablet, students should drink enough water, she said.
141 schools demolition

The ZP decided to demolish 141 dilapidated school buildings, built two decades ago. The demolition activities should be carried out by the School Development and Monitoring Committees, it said.
